What is Speech Trader?

Speech Trader is a marketplace site designed to allow Speech-Language Pathologist to buy and sell originally created material as well as tangible items and android apps.

Who can sell materials?

Anyone who has materials related to the field of Speech-language Pathology can sell materials on Speech Trader.

Why should I sell my materials on Speech Trader’s site?

By using a centralized location with multiple vendors you will have increased exposure to potential buyers! The advantage of selling digital items is you can create the item once and sell it an unlimited number of times as a digital download. That is called using your time wisely!

How can I join Speech Trader?

Creating and account is easy and FREE! We just need a couple pieces of information. Find the “Sign up for FREE” link on our homepage.

 

Seller Questions

What types of products can I sell on Speech Trader?

We support the sale of originally created digital materials and tangible items. All items listed for sale must be related to the field of Speech-Language Pathology. You can upload material for all ages and all types of work settings. Examples include: therapy materials, treatment protocols, data tracking sheets, presentations, patient education forms, etc.

How many products can I upload?

You can upload an unlimited amount of material. In fact, the more you upload the more money you have the potential to make!

What type of files can I upload?

You can upload most media files including pdf, doc, xls, ppt, mp3, odt, apk, and more

How do I upload a main image to display my product?

The images you upload to show your product must be in PNG, GIF, JPG formats. In order to accomplish this, you can take a screenshot of your image. Here are some instructions:

How to Take a Screen Shot Using Windows

Option 1

1. Open a file with the image you’d like to upload.

2. Search your computer for the “snipping tool”.

3. Choose a style option under “new”.

4. Snip/Crop the image you’d like to be displayed.

5. Save the image as PNG, GIF, or JPEG file.

6. You are now ready to upload this image to Speech Trader!

Option 2

1. Press the “Print Screen” button on your keyboard to capture a screen shot

2. Open Microsoft Paint

3. Paste the screen shot by clicking the “Paste” option, or by pressing CTL-V on your keyboard

4. Save the image as a PNG, GIF, or JPG

5. You are now ready to upload this image to Speech Trader!

How to take a screenshot using Mac

1. To take a picture of the entire screen hold down COMMAND + SHIFT + 3.

2. To take a partial shot hold down COMMAND + SHIFT + 4 then use the mouse to draw a rectangle around what you want to capture.

3. Both methods will save as a file on your desktop. You can name this file by choosing Rename under the File menu.

How much should I charge for my products?

The minimum amount you can charge is 2.00 otherwise the item’s price is your decision. Please consider commissions and transaction fees that will be taken out when setting your price, so don’t underprice your hard work! When pricing tangible items, you should also consider the cost of shipping.

Am I required to offer a free item?

No, you don’t have to but it’s a good idea. It allows buyers to get a glimpse of your awesome materials. Also, free items will draw more buyers to the website.

What does Speech Trader charge me for using their site?

We don’t charge you anything to use the site. You can list items without any initial costs. Once an item sells, Speech Trader will take small service fee of 30%. Paypal takes out 2.9 plus 0.30 cents per transaction. In other words, you keep 70% of the sale profits after PayPal takes their fees.

When do I get paid for items that sell?

You get paid during the first week of the month through Paypal. Paypal will take a 2.0% fee up to $1.00 each time you get paid.

Do I need a PayPal account to sell items on Speech Trader?

Yes. Sellers need a PayPal account in order to get paid commissions.

Why is there a transaction fee?

This is a PayPal fee, not a Speech Trader fee. PayPal charges 0.30 + 2.9% per transaction. Then they will take 2.0% up to 1.00 each time you get paid.

I am already selling items on my personal site. Why should I use Speech Trader?

By creating a central location with many sellers, we are able to attract many more buys to the Speech Trader web site. You will have increased exposure to buyers and therefore, to potential to make more sales. Using this site may draw more people to your own site.

 

Buyer Questions

Do I need to create an account to buy an item?

Yes, this will allow you to keep track of items you have purchased and access them at a later date, if needed.

How do I search for items?

You can search for items using the search button at the top of the page or by selecting a particular category. If you are looking for a particular item but can’t find it, you can request it on our wish list. Perhaps someone will already have what you need and upload it for you.

Do I need a PayPal account to buy an item?

No, you do not need a paypal account to purchase an item.

Is there a minimum purchase amount?

No. There is not a minimum purchase amount.

Can I let other SLPs use the item I purchased on Speech Trader?

When you purchase an item from Speech Trader, you are buying a single license. If you want others to have access the item, you should purchase multiple licenses.

Something is wrong with the file and I can’t use the item I purchased. What should I do?

Please make sure the file you purchased is compatible with software on your computer. If the file is corrupt you can contact us by e-mail at SpeechTrader@gmail.com or by phone at 502-822-6844 and we can help you solve this problem.

I was charged twice for an item. What should I do?
